Take your knitting and get out! :-)
If you are looking for a way to combine yarn with recreation, here are some handy links:

-Lucy Neatby's Adventure Knitting with Lucy!
6 days of knitting and (optional) hiking on the east coast of Canada with the pink-haired goddess of yarn. Heaven!

- Scottish Skeins & Skerries - Joyce James Tours
Joyce James is a knitting travel agent. Their last trip listed on the website in May/June of 2004 sounds like a dream: Jamiesons, Shetland up the wazoo, Harris tweed weaving and as much Scottish culture as you can absorb for almost three weeks. Write them to find out if they're going to do it again in 2005.

- Y2Knit's Knitting Getaways
Weekends or longer...includes food, yoga, massage, shopping, oh -- and knitting! 2005 dates listed on the site already!

-Ireland in May 2005
Dang, we just missed Provence [September 2004]. Provence! Can you even imagine? Anyway, full details of Donna's planned trip to Ireland are on the site, which includes day trips, classes, shopping, tours of woolen mills and more.

- Easter in the Andes 2005
Says the website: "Join Nancy Thomas, expert knitter and knitting editor, and Cynthia LeCount Samaké, author of Andean Folk Knitting, for a fantastic foray into the world of Andean knitting and weaving!" My favorite part of the description: "We will also meet three dynamic women and the Andean women they organized into coop ventures. If you are a knitter, bring a project to show off, as these knitters all love to see what we are making and with what new yarns!" This is accompanied by a picture of said dynamic Andean women fondling a pastel-colored eyelash scarf. What the heck must they think of such things? Anyway, looks like a great tour.

- Knitter's Review Retreat
Another one you just missed - or were you lucky enough to have attended? Anyway, this event happens every November, so join the Knitter's Review Newsletter and you'll get an e-mail when the next Retreat is open for booking!

- Meg Swansen's Knitting Camp
The mama of them all, from the daughter of the knitting mama to us all, Elizabeth Zimmermann. Camps and retreats. Total wool immersion!

Knitting shop retreats galore!
Each is different, so check the website for details, prices and dates.
- Mindful Knitting with Tara Jon Manning -- two dates in early 2005 in Vermont
- Sisu Designs in Minnesota and New Mexico
- Susan's Fiber Shop in Wisconsin
- Countrywool's Cape Ann and Catskill Retreats -- 2005 dates listed at the bottom of the page
- Maine Merino in Bath, Maine
- Arnhild's Knitting Camps in Iowa

...and more to come!
