Harnessing the collective power of the internet
You met some knitting bloggers in my first post. As you have probably noticed, they have a lot of fun sharing their ideas, techniques and projects.

Often, you'll find knitbloggers [as they call themselves] working on something together. Doesn't matter that they live all over the world. That's the whole deal here -- the internet makes the connections easy.

A brand new charitable collaborative project has just popped up that I wanted to share with you.

The project's organizers, Wendy, Teresa and Deb [three well-known and respected knitbloggers], have set up a collection box, so to speak, for the Heifer Project. They're going to purchase a "Knitting Basket" with the donations they collect. Full details can be found here.

Any of us can make an individual donation to the Heifer Project. But there's something very wonderful about pooling our resources and making a significant donation as a group of knitters from all over the world.

[UPDATE: In just the first day, they've collected almost $1500. That's enough for 3 knitting basket gifts of fiber-bearing animals through the Heifer Project. Man, I love the internet, and I really love knitters.]
